About Us
Klein & Schonblum Associates is a Toronto boutique litigation firm founded in 1992 to meet a particular need in the insurance market: sophisticated, specialized legal services delivered at reasonable rates. More than three decades later, that remains central to our practice.
KSA is, at its core, a speciality litigation firm. Our lawyers have developed expertise in insurance defence, with a significant concentration in professional liability. The firm includes lawyers called to the bar from 1978 through 2026, bringing together decades of experience with the perspective of a newer generation of counsel. Our lawyers have practised at major Toronto law firms, within corporations and insurers, and with the Government of Ontario. That breadth of experience allows KSA to provide the quality and sophistication of legal work associated with much larger firms, while maintaining the responsiveness, flexibility and personal attention of a boutique practice.
Our approach to litigation is practical and strategic. We consider conventional and creative methods of dispute resolution and continually assess our files with reference to risk, cost and the likelihood of success. We believe that effective advocacy requires more than knowing the law. It requires judgment, preparation and common sense, together with an understanding of each client’s objectives and the economics of the dispute. Our lawyers work collaboratively, approach their files with commitment and experience, and advocate firmly. At the same time, we recognize that litigation is a means to an end, not an end in itself. Our objective is to achieve the best practical result for our clients while managing cost and risk throughout the process.
We are particularly proud of the long-standing relationships we have developed with our clients. Many have entrusted their matters to KSA for years, and in some cases decades. We regard those relationships as one of the strongest measures of the quality of our work.
KSA began in downtown Toronto at Yonge and Dundas before relocating to the Yonge-Eglinton Centre in midtown Toronto. The move allowed the firm to maintain a central Toronto presence while operating with lower overhead than many downtown firms.
